Updated April with over 30 events and more in May!
New on Website:
The Indigenous Solidarity Working Group aims to connect groups and individuals into a coalition of allies to support, facilitate and stand in solidarity with Indigenous initiatives. The Shawnigan Lake Battle has had a huge victory recently when the BC Supreme Court ruled that a Toxic Soil Dump was never permitted in the local zoning bylaws and ordered the halt of operations. We know the corporate players including the BC government has a vested interest in overturning this win so we will stand vigilant and prepared to support the community in the next steps. Support the Shawnigan Campaign directly.
Join us for Radical Rants!
Friday April 15th - 6pm
1900 Douglas Street, Copper Owl Lounge
A brand new speaking series, dedicated to social, environmental and economic justice!
JOIN AND INVITE
Sponsored by the Social Environmental Alliance, Socialist Fightback BC, Cascadia Now, and the free radical bulletin board
Admission is $5 or pay what you can (no one turned away due to lack of funds) & all proceeds will go to worthy causes.
Focused on social, environmental and economic justice, the series aims to foster a space where we can speak truth to power, celebrating our solidarity and having fun at the same time while offering a voice to the voiceless.
The evening will include a soap box open mic to get you up there, audience participation activities to get you involved and a flyer table to keep you informed, spreading the word, being heard!
This is your forum! All power to the people!
Hosted by J Ocean Dennie,
Communications Director, SEA
We acknowledge this event is taking place on traditional Lekwungen territory.

Earth Walk
for Peace and the Planet
This year's Earth Walk for Peace and the Planet is proving to be as exciting as ever!Join us at the BC Legislature Lawn on Saturday, April 23 at 11:45 am for a Walk with Samba du Soleil to Centennial Square where we'll enjoy a raging live music performance by Marimba Mufaro, speakers and festivities!
Bring your banners, signs, flags and flowers! Drums, noisemakers, puppets and people younger and older are welcome and encouraged to participate! Together, we're proclaiming our commitment to a peaceful world that respects ecological systems and the communities they sustain!
Spread the word far and wide to members and contacts and friends, joining the walk as a thousands-strong contingent with signs and banners!
In terms of how groups can help: (1) At a minimum, groups can endorse and have their name added to the list of sponsors.
(2) It would also be great if they can distribute the email notice for the event to members and contacts.
(3) They can also form a contingent and participate in the walk with a sign or banner for their group.
(4) Finally, if the group has the financial capacity, a donation can be made to Victoria Earth Walk to help offset costs (sound system, printing, permits, etc; c/o Social Environmental Alliance, #403-1035 Pendergast Street, Victoria, BC V8V 2W9).
