Climate Strike Theatre Action Rehearsal
Sunday, September 8, 2019
03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
546 Yates Street, Victoria, British Columbia V8W 1K8
Trees - Island Grown
Are you interested in doing climate justice theatre? Or know others who are interested in theatre? Please invite them!
For the week of climate justice actions on September 20 – 27, 2019, we are going to facilitate a series of theatre workshops to use our creative power to stop “business as usual”. All ages are welcome!
Theatre has a potential to awaken hope and, more importantly, provide an opportunity to imagine, organize and take action for climate justice. Theatre has been used as a tool for resistance all over the world to creatively engage people for taking action.
Theatre workshops for climate justice will take place every other week and aim at creating short plays, planning invisible theatre performances and finding creative ways on how to engage people to hear ours and the voices of millions. Through these creative tools we are hoping to disturb daily life to demand an end to the age of fossil fuels during the week of climate justice action.
See you there!

Global Climate Strike: Intro to Non-Violent Direct Action
Sunday, September 15, 2019
03:00 PM to 07:00 PM
546 Yates Street, Victoria
Trees - Island Grown
To get the massive changes we need to address the climate crisis, we will need to draw on all of the tools used by great social movements, including peaceful direct action. And we need thousands of ordinary people to join in.
𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭:
☀️ Why and when to use direct action
☀️ Your legal rights
☀️ Building a team for a safe and spectacular action
☀️ Getting covered in the media
☀️ How to de-escalate conflict
Then put these skills to work: we will finish with time to connect with local groups organizing direct actions for the Global Climate Strike from Sept 20-27!
People of all ages are welcome. Bring a friend!

Student Strike And Die-in
Friday, September 20, 2019
12:00 PM to 01:00 PM
501 Belleville Street, Victoria, BC
British Columbia Parliament Buildings
Young climate strikers are calling on everyone: parents, workers, and all concerned humans to join massive climate strikes and a week of climate justice actions September 20 – 27, 2019.
Our Earth Our Future is hosting A Student Strike And Die-in as a part of the week of events.
We will lie down at the steps of the legislature buildings and act as if dead to sumbolize what the world might look like in the future if we don't change.
The world’s leading climate scientists tell us we must dramatically reduce greenhouse gas pollution in every one of the 11 years before 2030 to limit the worst effects of the climate crisis. Every day of delay is a crime against younger people in Canada, and around the planet. This is the truth that has to be told.
