Student Strike And Die-in
Friday, September 20, 2019
12:00 PM to 01:00 PM
501 Belleville Street, Victoria, BC
British Columbia Parliament Buildings
Young climate strikers are calling on everyone: parents, workers, and all concerned humans to join massive climate strikes and a week of climate justice actions September 20 โ 27, 2019.
Our Earth Our Future is hosting A Student Strike And Die-in as a part of the week of events.
We will lie down at the steps of the legislature buildings and act as if dead to sumbolize what the world might look like in the future if we don't change.
The worldโs leading climate scientists tell us we must dramatically reduce greenhouse gas pollution in every one of the 11 years before 2030 to limit the worst effects of the climate crisis. Every day of delay is a crime against younger people in Canada, and around the planet. This is the truth that has to be told.

Strike 4 Forests and Climate: A Citizens' Picket!
Tuesday, September 24, 2019
07:30 AM to 10:00 AM
525 Superior Street, Victoria
Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy
Strike 4 Forests and Climate! Citizen Picket lines and peaceful disruption at the provincial Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, 525 Superior St. Victoria on Lekwungen territory.
Rise and strike with us, take a couple hours at the beginning of your work day to join the Strike 4 Forests and Climate!, Tuesday, September 24th for early morning peaceful picket lines and disruption at the doors of the provincial Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy to demand that Minister Heyman responsible for addressing the climate crisis immediately intervene to halt industrial destruction of the last old-growth temperate rainforests on this coast. The legacy of resource colonialism that has brought the planet to the brink of ecological and climate collapse, has to end!
We are asking that members of the public show solidarity in gathering with us to form picket lines at the building entrances of the Environment Ministry offices, causing a 2-hour work delay for full protection of the non-industrialized old-growth forest landscape as an essential component of the government's climate change strategy.

Global Climate Strike: Record Bank Card Cut-Up
Thursday, September 26, 2019
12:00 PM to 01:30 PM
1079 Douglas St, Victoria
Join us downtown Victoria as we set the record for shredding as many bank cards and closing as many bank accounts with the financiers of climate ruin, ever, in one day and one place!
Why? Because the big Canadian banks (RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC) have already financed over 450 billion dollars in fossil fuel projects in Canada and abroad since 2016, the year of the Paris Climate Accord.
But where will my money go?
We are asking that people put their money where their heart is and to move their account to local credit unions (such as VanCity) which have explicit policies of not supporting fossil fuels and in investing in community wealth, local sustainability and climate solutions.
