A brand new activist gathering and people's forum, dedicated to social, environmental and economic justice.

Social Environmental Alliance, Socialist Fightback BC, Cascadia Now,
and the free radical bulletin board

Admission is $5 or pay what you can (no one turned away due to lack of funds) & all proceeds will go to worthy causes.

Focused on social, environmental and economic justice, the series aims to foster a space where we can speak truth to power, celebrating our solidarity and having fun at the same time while offering a voice to the voiceless.

The evening will include featured ranters, a soap box open mic to get you up there, audience participation activities to get you involved and a flyer table to keep you informed, spreading the word, being heard!

This is your forum! All power to the people!

Communications Director, SEA

We acknowledge this event is taking place on traditional Lekwungen territory.

Shawnigan Toxic Dump Update

Betrayed by our "Private Property 1st" Legal System

March 21st 2016
In a decision applauded by local government and residents, Justice Brian MacKenzie ruled that “permanent encapsulation in engineered cells of refuse, waste or contaminated soil not originating on the property (640 Stebbings Road) was contrary to the CVRD’s zoning for that property. He granted an injunction restraining site owner Cobble Hill Holdings Ltd. and associated companies from accepting and landfilling the soil.

Less than a month later on April 15th 2016
BC Appeal Court Madam Justice Kirkpatrick has given a stay to the two injunctions put in place with Justice Mackenzie’s March 21st ruling, allowing 106,000 more tonnes to be dumped at the site.
